about
EDIT: I just realized the other day the chord progression I play I must have subconsciously stolen, because it sounds almost exactly like the guitar in the song "Coffee" by Baebadoobee!! So please know that is not a completely original bit by myself!
Heat is my first piece in the Year in Studies project, where each month artist are asked to create a piece in their preferred medium based on a single word prompt. The word for January was "Heat."
With this piece I created my own semi rhythmic flames by sampling a recorded fire, and then playing notes with the samples on my midi. I recorded an acoustic guitar for about a minute, and then copied that progression over each section of flames, but at a slightly slower speed. Behind all of this I added a subtle drone, to hold the piece together.
With heat wanted to create a sort of calmness in the chaos- The calm being the slowing peaceful guitar, and the chaos obviously the flames behind it. The flames do die down throughout the piece, becoming almost nothing. Like in life, the chaos that bothers us will die down, to be only a mere afterthought in the background of our lives. We just need to pay attention to that which calms us.
Hope you enjoy :~)
